It was not a great week for fitness. Despite increased exercise and a return to meal replacement shakes, I did not lose anything. I’m still where I was at the beginning of February. And it’s now the beginning of March.
At least I didn’t gain weight.
But still, it’s disheartening to look at the measurements and scale. Really? I gave up ice cream and nachos and poptarts… and where are the results? And to add insult to injury, my hubby still eats everything he wants and stays the same weight…
However, I really have no choice but to redouble my efforts and keep going. I have to figure out how to lose weight and keep it off…. and then keep it off for good. My health…and life depend on it.
Setback: Over the past few weeks I’ve developed a tender right heel. I mentioned it to my primary care physician last month and he recommended stretching and ibuprofen. However, with increased walking, and a week of wearing nothing but hard hiking boots, my heel really hurts. All the time hurts. So, I called my PCP again… and had to wait a few days for a referral to a podiatrist… and then wait again for the Podiatry Office to call me to schedule and appointment. But now I have an appointment — on March 12. So we’ll just have to play it by ear about how hard I can push.
It’s very frustrating. And painful. I wish I knew the cause so I could treat it. In the meantime, I am wearing shoe inserts which seem to help a bit and not walking as fast or as long. The ibuprofen hasn’t lessened the pain, but I do know from my arthritic days that it does relieve the inflammation — and chronic inflammation causes damage… so I keep taking the ibuprofen.
Still, I can hobble through my strength training videos and core exercises on the floor don’t put any pressure on my heel.
And I guess that will have to be good enough for now.
